WEEK ONE

INTRODUCTION TO ENTERPRISE & TASK SETTING

Change is important. Across the world, movements are made in the way of climate change, mental health awareness, ‘choose love’ and black lives matter to name only a few. One of the impacts is that many people, including young people, are finding ways to positively contribute towards this.

You have been tasked with creating a Social Enterprise that supports a cause important to you. You can create any product, but you must emphasise the mission of your business and how your business profits society.

What is a Social Enterprise?

Social enterprises are businesses that are changing the world for the better.

By selling goods and services in the open market, social enterprises reinvest the money they make back into their business or the local community such as charities that support their cause.

This allows them to tackle social problems, improve people’s lives, support communities and help the environment. So when a social enterprise profits society profits.

There are over 100,000 in the UK! Download and take a look at the social enterprise case studies below.

What cause are they supporting and how are they achieving this?

Can you research and find any more?

What traits do you think make a great social entrepreneur?
