Portsmouth College Student Leadership Network
The Portsmouth College Student Leadership Network is an opportunity for current student leaders in Portsmouth schools (primarily Years 10 & 11) to have access to both local and global specialist leadership development workshops and resources. The Network would normally include a series of in-person events hosted by Portsmouth College but this year the same great speakers and activities are being brought to you digitally.

Leadership In Public Life

The Rt Hon Penny Mordaunt MP, Member of Parliament for Portsmouth North and Paymaster General. As well as her political life, Penny has a wealth of leadership experience to share including as the co-author of a new leadership book ‘Greater: Rethinking the British Idea’ released in January 2021.
Exploring Personal Leadership

Unloc Director and Portsmouth City Councillor, Ben Dowling, will work with you to learn more about different leadership styles and help you explore your own personal approach to leadership.

CEO of Just Good Company, Steve Baker, is back for his second session this year as he helps us to better understand what happiness is and the purpose of being happy.

Charlotte Harrison is a Principal Lecturer in Law at the University of Portsmouth, having previously practised as a commercial solicitor. As well as teaching law, Charlotte has spent over ten years working with students to develop their career management skills and personal brand. These areas have also been the focus of her research and recent publications. Join Charlotte to start your journey towards understanding and communicating your personal brand so that you can approach future employers and other contacts with confidence.
Leadership Is Everyone's Business

Samuel T. Reddy is an award winning author, veteran, entrepreneur and speaker. He is passionate about seeing the best in leaders and believes that leadership is everyone’s business. Use this session to work with Samuel to explore this idea further.

Unloc Director and Portsmouth City Councillor, Ben Dowling, will guide you through an interactive workshop which looks to build on your knowledge of being a leader in school.
Realising Your Ambitions

Vice Admiral Sir Alan Michael Massey, KCB, CBE is a former senior officer in the Royal Navy who served as the Second Sea Lord. After his Naval career, Sir Alan went on to be the Chief Executive, Maritime and Coastguard Agency. Sir Alan has extensive leadership experience in both military and civilian spheres. In this interactive session, he shares some of his thoughts on rising to leadership and realising your ambitions.
Triumph, Challenge and Adaptability

CEO of Just Good Company, Steve Baker has spent the last 20 years in the UK charity sector where he has grown his last charity to £1.3million turnover, enabled multiple talented people to reach CEO level and trained 100s of staff and volunteers to reach their potential. Join Steve as he explores his journey in this session which looks at leadership in terms of teamwork, triumph, challenge and adaptability.
Global Youth Leadership

Ella Reilly’s passions lie within sustainable development, from extreme poverty to environmental conservation. A ONE Youth Ambassador, she is working with the ONE Campaign to end extreme poverty and preventable disease by 2030. Ella was Head Girl at Miltoncross Academy and is a supporter of youth co-production, previously working on projects concerning young people’s mental health services, student voice in schools, disability inclusion and equality in education settings. This session is all about exploring the impact young leaders can have at a global scale.

Dr Alex Blower works within the outreach team at the University of Portsmouth. Having experienced expulsion from his first school at the age of 13, in 2016, Alex began study for a PhD. As someone who is passionate about equality of access to educational opportunity for young people, Alex is a regular blogger and vlogger hosting Edu Detective on YouTube and writing on issues relating to education and inequality. In 2018 Alex spoke at a TEDx event.
Grassroots Community Leadership
4pm-6pm, Monday 22nd February 2021
Local leaders from across the political spectrum open up the discussion on grassroots community leadership for this interactive roundtable. The guests include:
