Youth Board Member for Youth Beyond Borders

Commitment: 4-6 hours per month. This includes preparation for and attendance at 4-6 board meetings per year as well as occasional ad hoc support on key initiatives and projects.

Location: Hybrid (combination of remote and in-person meetings in Oval, London)

Reporting to: CEO and Board of Trustees

Remuneration: The role is voluntary, although expenses for travel will be reimbursed.

We have built up a strong portfolio of work across Europe with some of the world’s leading brands and institutions including Nike, JD Sports, Kurt Geiger, National Theatre and Oxford University. This year we are likely to exceed £1+ million annual turnover for the first time. 

Role Overview

We are seeking a Youth Board Member to sit on the YBB Board and work collaboratively with the CEO and fellow trustees in guiding the direction of the organisation. The YBB Youth Board Member will play a crucial role in ensuring youth voices are heard and considered in relation to the long-term success of the business. The Advisor will advocate for under-represented communities and their needs. As an organisation driven by social impact, it is essential that the Youth Board Member champions our mission, amplifies our impact, and embodies the core values of YBB.

Key Responsibilities

Advocate for Youth Perspectives

• Contribute to YBB’s long-term vision and strategic priorities by ensuring alignment with our mission of empowering young people. 
• Help incorporate youth perspectives into our decision making process. 

• Contribute to board meetings, sharing ideas and providing respectful challenge.

Network Building

• Help share the work of YBB and increase the reach of our projects.
• Connect YBB with youth communities and voices.
• Represent YBB externally, strengthening relationships with key stakeholders.

Mentorship & Culture

• Provide guidance to the CEO and senior leadership around youth perspectives.
• Champion the values of the organisation, holding the team accountable to our expected behaviours.
• Support YBB to continue developing a high-performing culture that incorporates and celebrates youth voices, perspectives and lived experiences into our decision making.
