For young people today, it is more important than ever that they are well equipped to enter the workforce. Unemployment is becoming an even greater issue facing young people. In spite of relevant qualifications obtained in their chosen field; many employers will look for work experience on an application or CV as it helps young people prepare for the world of work and build on valuable skills which can be transferred from one job to another.
With more than half a million companies struggling to fill vacancies, yet still high youth unemployment, educational and business settings need to take a more active role in helping prepare young people with the skills and attitudes needed in the world of work. Beyond filling this skills gap, they need to constantly innovate and change to retain a competitive edge in a dynamic market and young people are uniquely placed to address both issues.
